David Janoviak is a professional actor, director and teacher. He is an associate professor in the Theatre and Dance Department at Western Oregon University and founder and Producing Artistic Director of Salem Repertory Theatre. Janoviak has directed over forty productions, and his directing credits range from college to regional to summer stock. As artistic director at SRT, he has directed All In The Timing, A Christmas Carol (04), Hauptmann and The Underpants. As an actor, Janoviak has performed at regional and professional theatres across the country and abroad, including The Northern Stage Company, Theatre Hebertot (Paris, France), Actor’s Repertory Theatre, Theatre Nepean (Sydney, Australia), The Dallas Shakespeare Festival and seven seasons with the Utah Shakespearean Festival. His roles at SRT include Scrooge in A Christmas Carol (05/06) and Victor Fleming in Moonlight and Magnolias. Other representative roles include the title role in Hamlet, Bobby in American Buffalo, Gilgamesh in The Epic of Gilgamesh, Damis in Tartuffe, Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, Mark in Mass Appeal, Ralph in The Shoemaker’s Holiday, and over twenty roles in, and plays by, Shakespeare. Janoviak appeared in Martin Scorcese’s Casino, played major roles in several independent and industrial films, and has lent his voice to countless commercials and voice-overs. He served as Producing Artistic Director of the Spotlight Theatre Company for five seasons and has won numerous awards for his acting and directing, including Best of 1990 in Theatre Week Magazine for his performance in the title role of Dr. Faustus. He received his M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Professional Theatre Training Program. David is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. |
