Michael Phillips Michael is a founding member of Salem Repertory Theatre, where he served as the first President of the Board of Directors until 2005. He is currently the Literary Manager for SRT, and is also the Head of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Western Oregon University, where he teaches Theatre History, Literature and Directing. Michael has directed both at the university and professional levels. Recent WOU productions include The Laramie Project, The Marriage of Bette and Boo and The Serpent. Professionally, he has directed in a variety of theatres around the country, including The Drawer Boy at Salem Repertory Theatre, The Barber of Seville at the Lancaster Opera of Pennsylvania, Arcadia at Lord Leebrick Theatre in Eugene, Oregon, and Romance/Romance at the Neighborhood Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a professional dramaturg, working most recently with Sojourn Theatre in Portland on their original production, Hidden.
