Salem Repertory Theatre has become a leader in promoting the performing arts in education throughout the Willamette Valley. In the last two years, SRT’s Educational Access Program has presented over twenty matinee and evening performances of its plays to thousands of high-school students in and around the Willamette Valley at no cost to students.
This unique educational program was originally co-sponsored and funded in partnership with The Spirit Mountain Community Fund, The Meyer Memorial Trust, Western Oregon University and The Marion County Cultural Corporation.
We at Salem Repertory Theatre (SRT) know that you are committed to educating young adults in the arts. That’s why we are extending a special invitation to SRT’s Educational Access Program to you and your students.
By making a connection between education and off campus cultural events, the EAP will offer students a unique opportunity for exploring and developing their own perspectives on life, humanity, relationships and personal responsibility.
The EAP will run concurrently with the school year, from September through May, presenting several no costperformances to middle and high school students.
Connections to students’ lives and classroom instruction
Post-show discussions with students and theatre professionals from Western Oregon University and Willamette University will feature question and answer sessions with the directors, actors, designers and experts on topics treated in the plays. Educational study guides and specially prepared dramaturgical notes for each production will also be provided to teachers as resources for classroom discussions.
SRT is committed to presenting plays of depth and vibrancy that illuminate the strengths, frailties and diversity of the human condition--theatrical works that entertain, enlighten, provoke and inspire--works that not only reflect our common humanity, but celebrate and embrace our differences.
We can’t wait to share this opportunity with you and your students.
Sincerely,
